Elementary

Elementary Programs

(6 to 12 Years Old)

The Elementary Programs are for students between the ages of 6 to 12. Classes are organized into two three-year cycles (Lower and Upper Elementary). Students spend all three years each cycle in the same classroom to deepen relationships with one another and with teachers:

Lower Elementary

(6 to 9 Years Old)

A defining period for intellectual exploration

Students are guided through materials gradually, moving towards abstract thought in preparation for Upper Elementary. Lessons are multi-sensory and impressionistic, serving all aspects of the brain and encouraging curiosity. Teachers support students to build social skills in a respectful environment and to stretch themselves academically—to their brightest potential.

Upper Elementary Program

(9 to 12 Years Old)

A defining period of social and intellectual exploration.

A deeply influential season of education, students build important social and leadership skills in an encouraging environment. Lessons are a sensory experience, integrating all of the dynamic assets of a true Montessori education. Students leave Upper Elementary prepared and eager to take on the academic precision, increased independence, and in-depth learning in MSD's Middle School.

Enrichment Programs

Led by highly trained instructors, our staff lead students through a multi-faced program that enriches the mind, body and spirit. We offer the following classes:

Visual Art

We foster creative growth and ability through our deeply intentional focus on the arts at Montessori School of Dayton. We believe that our most valuable skills in life grow in unique ways through exposure to arts.

Chorus

At Montessori School of Dayton, our aim is to share our love of music with all students, which is why our body of students participate in Chorus starting in Upper Elementary! Chorus is an opportunity for students to formally study vocal music, while continuing to strengthen the musical foundation created in their earlier years.
